In Light Works, I extended my exploration of perception and atmosphere by adopting light as both material and subject. The series emerged through the continued evolution of my sculptural and print-based practice, where questions of form, surface and mark were increasingly shaped by interaction, chance and context. Light became a natural continuation of this enquiry, functioning as a sculptural presence in its own right and expanding the spatial concerns that inform my wider work.

The pieces explore light's capacity to transform surface, depth and perception, often shifting according to the viewer's position and the surrounding environment. Reflections, shadows and subtle variations in illumination create conditions that are contingent and unstable, encouraging an awareness of looking as an active process rather than a fixed act of observation.

Central to the series is an interest in transience and becoming. The works resist singular readings, changing through movement, duration and encounter. Meaning is not predetermined but emerges through the relationship between object, space and viewer.

Rather than illuminating form alone, light becomes a generative force within the work, shaping atmosphere and altering spatial experience. Through this continual exchange, Light Works invites sustained attention to the ephemeral and overlooked, revealing how perception itself remains fluid, contingent and open to change.
